DPH reports increase of 11 COVID-19 cases, since Monday, in Stephens County

The Georgia Department of Public Health is now reporting 495 total cases of COVID-19, an increase of 11 since Monday’s report and six deaths due to complications of the virus in Stephens County.

The Department of Public Health is reporting that Habersham County has 48 fatalities due to the virus and 961 positive cases of the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 4,021 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 761 tests have come back positive with 603 patients receiving positive results, 3,228 received negative results, and 32 individuals are still awaiting their results.

Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester says the hospital currently has eight patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Hester adds that WorkWell Occupational Medicine and Immediate Care Clinic does have testing capabilities for patients suspected of having COVID-19. He says testing is done by appointment and only following assessment by a medical provider of that clinic.

In other neighboring counties, Franklin County has had 331 cases and three deaths, Banks County has a total of 213 cases and three deaths, Rabun County has 164 cases and three deaths, and Hart County has 219 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 175,052 cases, of those, 17,544 have been hospitalized and 3,563 have died from complications of the virus.
