DPH Reports Covid Death in Stephens-School Positive Cases Down

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting another COVID-related death in Stephens County bringing the total to 70, with 2,825 residents testing positive for the virus, since the beginning of the global pandemic.

The latest report was released Friday afternoon.

The amount of positive cases have continued to be lower this week around the area.

The Stephens County School System’s weekly report for the week ending February 19th also shows a lower amount of positive cases:

1 staff member with a positive Covid-19 test.

1 staff member quarantined at home.

47 students quarantined at home.

1 student with a positive Covid-19 test.

3,929 students currently enrolled in-person and virtually.

536 current employees.

Again, the numbers represented are current active cases as of February 19, 2021 and are not a running total.

According to DPH, Rabun County is also reporting another death bringing the total to 36 and 1,408 cases.

The latest report still has Habersham County with 134 deaths and now of 4,504 positive cases of the virus.

In other neighboring counties, Franklin County is still reporting 36 deaths and now 2,229 positive cases, Hart County is reporting 1,623 cases and still 34 deaths, and Banks County is still reporting 30 deaths and now 1,521 cases.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, the positive Covid-19 cases have now surpassed 800,000 for a total now of 800,959 cases of the virus across the state of Georgia, of those, 54,434 have been hospitalized, and  the total death count due to complications of the virus is now at 14,530.
