DPH releases Daily COVID report for Stephens County

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting 115 COVID-related deaths in Stephens County with 5,041 residents testing positive for the virus, since the beginning of the global pandemic.

In Stephens County there has been a total of 365 hospitalizations due to the virus since the start of the pandemic.

The latest report was released Thursday afternoon.

In the last two weeks, ending January 13, the DPH reports a total of 334 new cases in Stephens County.

For surrounding counties, Habersham County has 509 new cases in the last two weeks, Rabun County has 137, Banks County has 301, Franklin County has 376, and Hart County has 291 new cases.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been a total of 1,622,845 positive cases of the virus across the state of Georgia, of those, 98,500 have been hospitalized and the total death count due to complications of the virus has now risen to 26,709.

Additionally, anyone interested in receiving a COVID vaccine can do so at the Stephens County Health Department.

All Georgians over the age of 5 are now eligible to receive the COVID vaccine. Booster doses of the vaccine are recommended for adults 18 and older who have completed their first series of vaccine.

Individuals who have symptoms of COVID-19 or who may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should get tested.
