DPH releases Daily COVID report for Stephens County

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting 116 COVID-related deaths in Stephens County with 5,439 residents testing positive for the virus, since the beginning of the global pandemic.

In Stephens County there has been a total of 369 hospitalizations due to the virus since the start of the pandemic.

The latest report was released Tuesday afternoon.

In the last two weeks, ending January 25, the DPH reports a total of 457 new cases in Stephens County.

For surrounding counties, Habersham County has 600 new cases in the last two weeks, Rabun County has 223, Banks County has 265, Franklin County has 395, and Hart County has 309 new cases.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been a total of 1,777,459 positive cases of the virus across the state of Georgia, of those, 101,328 have been hospitalized and the total death count due to complications of the virus has now risen to 27,191.

Additionally, anyone interested in receiving a COVID vaccine can do so at the Stephens County Health Department.

All Georgians over the age of 5 are now eligible to receive the COVID vaccine. Booster doses of the vaccine are recommended for adults 18 and older who have completed their first series of vaccine.

Individuals who have symptoms of COVID-19 or who may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should get tested.
