DPH now reporting 144 cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County after previously reporting 147 cases

The Georgia Department of Public Health is now reporting 144 cases of COVID-19 in Toccoa-Stephens County.

On Thursday, the DPH was originally reporting 147 cases; however, that number has since dropped by three.

To date, Stephens County has had three deaths due to complications from COVID-19.

Habersham County continues to be the county hit the hardest in our area with 545 positive cases of the virus and 24 fatalities due to complications from the virus.

Locally, at Stephens County Hospital, staff have tested 1,086 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 123 tests have come back positive, 919 received negative results, and 19 individuals are still awaiting their results.

According to hospital staff, of those 123 who have tested positive at Stephens County Hospital and its facilities, 96 have now fully recovered from COVID-19.

Additionally, there is one patient currently hospitalized at Stephens County Hospital with a confirmed case of COVID-19, and two others awaiting results.

In other neighboring counties, Banks County has a total of 87 cases with one death, Rabun County has 25 cases and one death, Franklin County has 123 cases and one death, and Hart County has 36 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 49,847 cases, of those, 8,557 have been hospitalized and 2,147 have died from complications of the virus.
