District 2 Public Health now scheduling back-to-school vaccines
District 2 Public Health is reminding parents of school-age kids to get their back-to-school vaccines now.
According to District 2 Public Health Spokesman Dave Palmer, now is a good time to get those required school vaccinations.
He says with the challenges and uncertainty that we face with COVID-19, it can be easy to forget about school and necessary vaccines for your child/children.
Kids need pencils, paper and other supplies for school; but, just as important, children entering kindergarten, middle school and high school are required to have certain vaccinations and not all children are up-to-date on their shots; as a way to ensure all children get their vaccines, District 2 Health Departments will hold special clinics for school immunizations at certain locations.
In Stephens, Banks, Forsyth, and Hart counties, beginning on July 27 through the 31, seventh-grade vaccines will be held Monday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; kindergarten and pre-school vaccines will be offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In Hall, Franklin, Lumpkin, Rabun and Towns counties, beginning on July 20 through the 24, seventh-grade vaccines will be held Monday and Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; kindergarten and pre-school vaccines will be offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In Dawson, Habersham, Union and White counties, beginning on July 13 through the 17, seventh-grade vaccines will be held Monday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; kindergarten and pre-school vaccines will be offered on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Palmer says vaccinations are available by appointment only to help protect the health of the community.
He advises that anyone coming in for an appointment should observe social distancing and wear a mask.
