On that day, Steele’s parachute landed on the steeple of the church tower in Sainte-Mère-Église, France. Because his regiment accidently dropped directly over the village, many were killed; however, Steele survived by hanging there for 2 hours before the Germans took him prisoner. He escaped 4 hours later, capturing 30 Germans and killing 11 others. This book tells the full, incredible story of John Steele with incredible artwork!
