Construction has begun on the Historic Ritz Theatre

Construction began on Wednesday, February 4, on the Historic Ritz Theatre, says General Manager Tim Mullen.

J. Davis Construction, Inc. is overseeing the construction. Mullen says that the road in front of the Ritz will be closed for a time.

Built in 1939, the theatre has been a gathering place for the community. Mullen assures the community that the Historic Ritz Theatre will not be changing, but that these are just some needed improvements.

The Historic Ritz Theatre is also getting new seats, thanks in part to a grant through the Fox Theatre’s Fox Gives program. The installation of the 358 new seats will be the only time that the theatre will close, says Mullen.

The Historic Ritz Theatre hosts over 100 shows each year with more than 20,000 attendees. To learn more, visit ritztheatretoccoa.com.

Once again, events at the Ritz have been planned accordingly, and building improvements will not hinder shows.
