Comeback Kids? Indians Do It Again

For the second time in four games, the Stephens County Indians baseball team came from behind to pick up a win.

Trailing 4-0 to West Hall Wednesday night, the Indians scored six runs in the sixth inning and held on for a 6-4 win.

West Hall picked up a run in the top of the first inning and three runs in the second to take a 4-0 lead.

Indians starter Noah Strickland shut down the Spartans after that and finished five innings, scattering nine hits and striking out two.

West Hall senior Marcus Pugh pitched one hit ball for the Spartans through five innings.

Senior John Kendrick relieved Pugh in the sixth inning allowing four of the six runs and Jayden Young, the third Spartan pitcher, gave up the final two runs.

Dru Daves hit a bloop single in back of first base to drive in the tying and winning runs Wednesday night.

That hit gave reliever Noah Holbrooks the win. Konnor Loudermilk came in and finished the game to get the save. The final six West Hall outs were strikeouts.

The Indians are now 4-0 while West Hall dropped to 2-2.

Stephens County’s next games will be Saturday at the Patrick Mayfield Baseball Tournament at the Habersham Central baseball field.

The Indians will play West Hall again at 1:30 PM and then Habersham Central at 4:30 pm.

You can listen to both games on WNEG starting at 1:15 P.M. on Saturday.
