Coan Adds to Trophy Case in World Championships

McKenzie Coan’s medal case will have to be much bigger.

Coan won two Gold medals and three Silver medals in the World Para Swimming Championships in London over the weekend.

Coan won Gold medals in the women’s 400 free S7, and the women’s 100 free S7, and brought home Silver medals in the women’s 50 free S7, the women’s 4×100 medley relay, and the women’s 4×100 free relay.

Overall, the team USA Para Swimming team won a total of 35 medals including 14 Gold.

The 23 year old has now surpassed double digits in Gold medals in international competition.

Coan, who was born in Toccoa and grew up in Clarkesville, is the daughter of Dr. Marc and Teresa Coan. Dr Coan is an internal medicine specialist at NGPG Toccoa Clinic.
