City of Toccoa receives re-designation as PlanFirst Community

The Toccoa City Commission met Monday for its regular scheduled meeting, during which, the Commission entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

The Memorandum of Agreement, according to City Manager Billy Morse, designates the City of Toccoa as a PlanFirst Community.

Morse said, the City of Toccoa was first designated a PlanFirst Community in 2019. The PlanFirst designation lasts 3 years, with the current designation expiring at the end of the year.

A PlanFirst re-designation application was completed and submitted to and approved by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for three years: January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2024.

This designation recognizes and rewards communities that demonstrate an established pattern of successfully implementing the local comprehensive plan.

A motion approving the memorandum of agreement was made by Commissioner David Austin with Vice Mayor Jeanette Jamieson seconding the motion.

The motion was approved unanimously.
