Public Advisory

Isolated Area
BOIL WATER NOTICE

A water connection shutoff was necessary to complete repairs on a ruptured 12 inch ductile iron water main located at the intersection of Broad Street and Currahee Street due construction in the area. Work began on November 6, 2019 at approximately 1PM and was repairs were completed by 7PM and water services restored the same day. This advisory affects anyone who experienced low water pressure and/or no water. The repair was be performed by City crews.

This water shutoff caused a disruption in water service primarily in the downtown, Falls Road and Big A Road vicinity. It is estimated that 75 customer were affected. When this occurs, a potential health hazard may exist in these areas of zero pressure from backflow and/or back-siphonage of water of unknown quality into the water distribution system.

In order to protect the public from a potential health hazard, all citizens that have experienced water outages and/or low water pressures are advised to “boil” all water prior to use for drinking, cooking, making ice or preparing baby food. The water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil. Citizens in this area should continue to boil their water until notification from the City of Toccoa Water Division that the microbiological quality of the water in the distribution system is safe for human consumption.

A separate notice will be provided to WNEG as notification that the quality of the water is safe for human consumption.
