City Manger speaks about recent cases of COVID-19 at TFD

Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse announced on Monday, during the Toccoa City Commission meeting that despite the recent number of Toccoa Fire Firefighters testing positive for COVID-19, fire services will not be interrupted.

He says the city has enough firefighters who tested negative to cover all shifts for the two fire stations within Toccoa City Limits.

Morse went on to say that if the Fire Departments needed additional resources they would fulfill their request.

As WNEG News reported earlier this week, the Toccoa Fire Department had several firefighters test positive for COVID-19.

It is important to note that the City of Toccoa has Automatic-Aid Agreements with Eastanollee, Shiloh and Carnes Creek Fire Stations.

Those Fire Stations will automatically and immediately respond to all structure fire calls in the City Limits.

All fire trucks and both fire stations have been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized to minimize and hopefully eliminate further spread of the virus.

Those Firefighters testing positive will not be allowed back at work until they are cleared.  The Toccoa Fire Department is following CDC and Health Department guidelines.

WNEG News will continue to follow this story and bring you updates as they become available.
