Citizens invited to demo new voting machines next week, in Stephens County

The Stephens County Registrar’s Office will be holding a public demonstration on the new voting machines next week.

According to Deputy Registrar April Roberts, the demonstration is to allow voters a chance to become familiar to the new machines prior to election day.

“Next Monday through Friday, we are going to have demonstrations where citizens can come in from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and we will go over the new voting systems with them,” she says. “And then on Tuesday night and Thursday night, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. we will be open as well for that.”

Again, the Stephens County Registrar’s Office will hold public demonstrations from the new voting machines next week, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.; also, on Tuesday and Thursday additional demonstrations will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Roberts says that citizens are welcome to come by for the demonstrations during those times.

The Presidential Preference Primary in March will be the first election, the Registrar’s Office will be using the new voting machines and system.

The Presidential Preference Primary election will be held on Tuesday, March 24, at the Senior Center, located on Roselane.

Early voting begins Monday, March 2, and will run Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. until Friday, March 20, at the Stephens County Registrar’s Office.
