Christmas In The Park Comes To Paul Anderson Park Today

Christmas in Toccoa officially kicks off today with the Christmas in the Park event at Paul Anderson Park. The event begins at 10 A.M. and culminates with the Christmas Tree Lighting around 7 p.m., and WNEG’s Phil Hobbs will be dropping by the evnet throughout the day with live broadcast updates on 93.1 FM and AM630 WNEG. 

The Varsity Food Truck will make its annual visit to Toccoa for the event, and will be serving lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and supper from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Lunch and Supper tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the event. 

Raffles and a silent auction at the event will help raise funds for upkeep of the Paul Anderson Park. 

The event will also include Pictures with Santa and local entertainment throughout the day. 

Christmas in the Park is just the start of a series of Christmas events in Toccoa. Toccoa Falls College’s Christmas Concert will be tonight at 7 p.m.; Toccoa Main Street’s Christmas Fest will be tomorrow night, the Toccoa Christmas Parade will be in Downtown Toccoa next Thursday, Dec. 12., and the Toccoa Symphony Orchestra will host the Christmas Concert and Art Show featuring the Toccoa Community Choir this Sunday, Dec.8.

On Saturday, Dec. 14, the Toccoa Stephens County Airport will host the 3rd annual Santa Fly In at 10 a.m.; also on Dec. 14, Travelers Rest Historic Site will host the annual Christmas at the Inn starting at noon.  On Sunday, Dec 15 at 3 p.m. youth of all ages can enjoy the Polar Express movie, with a special appearance by Santa.

Also, the Historic Ritz Theatre Christmas Movie Series began today, December 5 with a 10 a.m.showing of the 2000 movie release of How the Grinch Stole Christmas., and will continue with a second showing at 7 p.m.  

The Christmas Movie Series will continue on December 12 with a 10 a.m. showing of the original 1966 version of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas. There will be no 7 p.m. showing of this movie.

This year’s Christmas Movie Series will close with 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. showing of The Grinch on December 19.

Tickets are $1 each, and concessions are available for $1 each. Tickets are sold at the box office one hour before show times.
