Christmas Fest returns to Toccoa next week

Christmas Fest returns to Toccoa a week from today.

According to Main Street Toccoa Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby, Christmas Fest will run from 6:00 p.m. until 9 p.m., on Friday, December 3, and kicks-off with the annual City of Toccoa Christmas Tree Lighting and Courthouse Wonderland at 6:00 p.m.

“Christmas Fest this year is going to be on December 3 in Downtown, from 6 to 9 p.m. It’s going to be full of some wonderful things to do and see. Every year we have our live nativity, and we will get our camel back this year. We’re also going to have some entertainment at the stage in front of the yellow caboose, on Tugalo and Sage Streets. From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. it’ll be Toccoa Jazz and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. it’ll be Tugalo Holler for their Christmas Show. Right at 6 o’clock we’ll have the lighting of the tree, and that’s always a beautiful time when we flip on the lights, but not just the light on the Christmas tree but throughout the courthouse lawn all at the same time,” she said.

She says Christmas Fest will look a little different this year, as some of the Christmas Displays have been moved from the Stephens County Historic Courthouse Lawn to other parts of downtown.

Crosby says the Festival of Trees and the Christmas Sage Market will be held inside at 26 Doyle Street.

Main Street Toccoa is still accepting applications for both the Festival of Trees and the Christmas Sage Market.

Additionally, Crosby says Toccoa on Ice will begin on December 3 as part of Christmas Fest and returns every weekend in December.

“We’ll be opening our ice skating for the whole month of December. On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout the month of December. We’re looking forward to that again this year. It’s $5 to rent the skates,” she said.

Lastly, Crosby says Main Street Toccoa will also hold its annual Storefront Christmas Contest.
