Christmas Fest returns to Downtown Toccoa this Friday
Christmas Fest returns to Downtown Toccoa tomorrow, Dec. 6, and Main Street Toccoa Director Kristen Deal says the event will bring the holiday spirit to life with a vibrant lineup of activities, entertainment, and shopping, with something for everyone, all beginning at 5 p.m. and lasting until 9 p.m.
This year’s festivities will kick off with the traditional Lighting of the Tree at 6 p.m. at the new Tugalo Street Greenspace, illuminating the center of town and bringing the community together to celebrate the season.
The Greenspace will also host the evening’s entertainment stage, featuring performances by Big A Elementary students at 5 p.m., Toccoa Jazz at 6:15 p.m., Toccoa Carolers at 7 p.m., and a final set of holiday music at 8 p.m.
Adding to the holiday charm, the Downtown Christmas Tree Lot, operated by Downtown Flowers, will be set up at the Greenspace, offering fresh Christmas trees for purchase.
Deal invites citizens to explore the Festival of Trees, located on the main floor of the Historic Courthouse. This year’s display features ten decorated trees, each representing a local organization. Visitors are invited to vote for their favorite trees all day Friday. Votes are cast through $1 donations, with proceeds benefiting the represented organizations. Popular vote winners and trees earning the most donations will each receive grand prizes.
Deal talked about several of the activities that will be available such as the live nativity, carriage rides, the Polar Express and the Toccoa Express, local business sales, and the Main Street Toccoa Tent, where you have one of the last opportunities to buy tickets for the Log Cabin Giveaway.
For holiday shoppers, Sage Street will transform into a marketplace with 35 unique craft and food vendors as part of the Sage Market. Offerings include holiday gifts, handmade goods, art, and more, with options from vendors like Mike’s Food Truck, Coffee Stop To-Go, and Lobster Dogs. The downtown businesses and restaurants are also a central part of the celebration, with extended holiday hours to welcome visitors. From unique boutiques to cozy cafes and restaurants, Downtown Toccoa offers an incredible array of options for gifts and holiday treats. Supporting these local businesses is a great way to get into the holiday spirit while finding something special for everyone on your list.
Although the ice-skating rink, Toccoa on Ice, will not be part of this year’s event, there will be plenty of festive activities to make the evening unforgettable.
Christmas Fest is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the season, support local businesses, and connect with the community. For updates and additional information, visit MainStreetToccoa.com or contact Kristen Deal at (706) 898-5777 or [email protected].
