Chief Mize attends Winter Training Conference

The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police recently held its annual Winter Training Conference for 2019.

In those attending was Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize.

He says this year’s training covered a variety of topics.

“This year’s training included presentations on Officer Response to Disasters, Quiet Cop, the Opioid Crisis, CIT (Crisis Intervention Team), Alarm Committee Panel Discussion, Peer Support Groups, and Reset the Clock just to name a few,” he said.

Mize added that he hopes to implement some strategies, introduced during the conference, at the Toccoa Police Department.

One of which, is adding a Chaplain at the station.

“We’ve been working on getting a permanent Chaplain for our officers and also for the victims,” he said.

Mize was among more than 300 heads of law enforcement agencies attending the conference.

He says the conference satisfied part of his continuing education and training in the administration of law enforcement.

The annual conference connects local law enforcement to presentations lead by experts of the field, and provides solutions to the current challenges faced by law enforcement across the state and country.
