Charlie Cecil Elrod

Charlie Cecil Elrod, age 91, of ToccoaGeorgia passed away on Saturday, April 4,2020 at his home.

He was born on April 22, 1928, in ToccoaGeorgia. He was the son of the late Samuel Elrod and Emma Belle Smith Elrod. He was a retired pipeline welder for 43 years. He was a member of the Pipeliners Local Union 798. He worked all over the United States including the Trans Alaska Pipeline and throughout the world. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was a member of the Senior Saints and the Senior Sunday School Class where he served as President. He was a loving and devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister Martha “Geraldine” Elrod and his brother and sister-in-law, Sam Jerome Elrod and Bertha McCallister Elrod.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Dora Westbrook Cheek Elrod; daughters and sons-in-law: Trena Elrod and fiancé Keith Farmer of Toccoa, Georgia, Lisa Elrod Watson (Philip) of Simpsonville, South Carolina, and Ginger “Gigi” Elrod Duncan (Tommy) of Westminster, South Carolina; stepdaughter: Pam Cheek Jones (Greg) of Toccoa, Georgia; stepson: Steve Cheek (Karen) of Toccoa, Georgia; grandchildren: Matthew Watson, Kristen Watson, Jessica Bohannon (Josh), Erica Smith (Jon), Megan Cheek and Emily Cheek; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will have a private visitation before the service on Tuesday

Private family graveside will be held Tuesday at Stephens Memorial Mausoleum with the Reverend David Sosebee and the Reverend Jewell Gaines officiating.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Philip Watson, Tommy Duncan, Steve Cheek, Greg Jones, Matthew Watson and Bryan Kesler.
