Carlisle Talks About Shift From County Elections to City Police Chief
Stephens County Election Supervisor Bruce Carlisle, who was recently selected to take the helm of the Toccoa Police Department beginning next week, spoke to the Stephens County Board of Commissioners at the Nov. 26 meeting. After thanking Board members for recognizing his contributions to the community with the presentation of the Chairman’s Award earlier in the meeting, Carlisle gave a brief recap of the November General Election
Carlisle said that his stint as head of the elections department was definitely not part of his original plans for this time in his life.
He talked about the decision to leave his position with the Lavonia Police Department
He said that hearing of the challenges that were affecting the Stephens County Election Office at that time, made him reconsider his plans, and make the decision to take on those challenges.
Carlisle said his time at the Stephens County Elections Office was productive, thanks in great part to the staff and volunteers.
He then talked about the decision to shift, once again, to law enforcement, with his move to the Toccoa Police Department
Carlisle thanked the Board members for their faith in him and support during his time as Election Supervisor.
WNEG News will continue to monitor the County’s search for a new Elections Supervisor as well as Carlisle’s first days with the Toccoa Police Department in the coming weeks.
