Camp Mikell Offers Refuge for Those Affected by Hurricane Helene
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, Camp Mikell, an Episcopal camp and conference center near Toccoa, has opened its doors to offer refuge for those in need of temporary housing while awaiting the restoration of utility services.
Camp Executive Director Jessica LeFiles said Mikell has power, hot water, and access to well-stocked stores and gas stations, aims to provide short-term comfort and support to individuals and families impacted by the storm.
“We understand the challenges and hardships many people are facing due to the hurricane,” said LeFiles. “By opening our doors, we hope to provide a safe and supportive environment for those in need as they work towards rebuilding their lives.”
