Brush Fire on Currahee Lane

The Carnes Creek Fire Department reports that shortly after 4 p.m. on Monday, March 23, Stephens County 911 received reports of an out-of-control brush fire in the 600 block area of Currahee Lane. Carnes Creek Fire, New Hope Fire, Tates Creek Fire, and Stephens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area. When the first units arrived on scene, they found a fast-moving brush fire approximately 30 feet from a structure and extending into the nearby woods. Firefighters immediately began working to establish a fire break to stop the flames from spreading further, and other firefighters began extinguishing the blaze. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in less than 20 minutes. No injuries from the incident were reported.
