Bridge collapses on Deerchase, repairs to come

Heavy rain caused Crawford Creek to flood its banks last Wednesday in the Deerchase subdivision. The bridge over the creek in the Deerchase subdivision collapsed.

During last Wednesday’s heavy rainfall in Stephens County, several roads in both the City and County reported flooding.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley told WNEG News last week about the bridge being collapsed on Deerchase Road.

As of Friday, the Stephens County Road Department were developing drainage calculations to determine the correct structure to fit the drainage.

According to Stephens County Administrator Phyllis Ayers, road crews have been moving some material in to prepare for the work.

Ayers added that this will be one of their top priorities for the residents to be able to use the road again.

As of yet, there has been no timeline established for the project to be completed.

WNEG News will continue to provide coverage as more information becomes available.
