BREAKING NEWS: Stephens County Election Supervisor resigns

Stephens County Election Supervisor Krista Terry has resigned.

Terry tendered her resignation today, October 18, effective immediately.

County Administrator Phyllis Ayers says the Board of Elections and Registration for Stephens County will act as the Election Superintendent until the position can be filled.

Ayers adds that they will begin advertising the position right away.

Board of Elections and Registration for Stephens County Chair Sean Black says “We are sad that Krista Terry has chosen to resign as Election Supervisor for Stephens County. She has done a phenomenal job in that position. She was energetic, hardworking, and conscientious. Ms. Terry had better opportunities and was tired of dealing with the constant harassment that seems to be an unfortunate part of our current political landscape. It is a loss to the county that she cannot continue as supervisor. We hoped that she would stay. Our support for her and the job that she did is unanimous. We wish her well going forward. The County and the Elections Board will ensure that the General Election moves forward.”
