BOE Restructure Followup With Dr. Connie Franklin
On Oct. 15, the Stephens County Board of Education met in the High School Auditorium to hear a presentation from Stephens County School Superintendent Dr. Connie Franklin and Deputy Superintendent John Stithon regarding the current elementary school structure and a proposal of reopening Eastanollee Elementary and restructuring the elementary schools from the current three elementary schools – based on grade levels – back to the traditional PreK- 5 th grade (PK-5) to accommodate growth in student enrollment.
Yesterday, WNEG News spoke with Franklin about the meeting, and she said she thinks they got the information needed to the public to keep them informed and involve them in the decision.
She said she feels the meeting went well.
She did say that, even though she understood the impact of asking young students to transition schools as many times as the current alignment does, a citizen who spoke at the meeting stated it in a manner that put it in a new light.
