BOE adopts policy updates

The Stephens County Board of Education met last night to adopt 3 policy updates.

Which includes revisions to Policy JBCB – nonresident students, Policy JBCC – Student Assignments and the adoption of Policy JBCBA – Tuition.

Policy JBCB allows non-resident students to attend Stephens County Schools contingent on approval from the Office of the Superintendent.

Policy JBCBA sets perimeters for the tuition that non-resident students approved for enrollment must pay.  Tuition for the Fall semester is due by August 1, and Spring semester tuition is due by December 1.

The policy also exempts tuition responsibilities for non-resident students who are children of Stephens County School System employees.

Policy JBCC will allow any student, who is the victim of a violent criminal offense, that requests to be transferred to another public school that is in compliance with current state and federal accountability requirements.

The Policy adds that the school system shall facilitate the transfer within 10 school days of the commission of the violent criminal offense.

A motion was made by Board member David Fricks, and Board member Wendy Dawkins seconded the motion.

The motion passed unanimously.
