Ayers signs scholarship to play softball with East Georgia State

Stephens County High School senior softball player, Ashton Ayers, has signed a scholarship to attend and play softball at East Georgia State in Swainsboro next year.  Ashton is the daughter of Butch and Mandy Ayers.  She was a 3 year starter for the Lady Indians playing in the outfield.

Ashton says that it was a stressful time trying to decide where to go, but once East Georgia came in the picture, everything fell into place.

Ashton says she has some special memories of her high school softball career.

“It was great being a starter for three years. I have so many memories,” Ashton said. “My sophomore year we went down to state for the first time made school history by doing that. That was just a very good experience being with all my teammates. And my 11th-grade year we got second in the state and that process was just so much fun. That 4th, 7th-ending game that Friday night we just loved it. We wouldn’t trade it for anything. Then my senior year, us seniors we had a great time as a team and as seniors.”

Ashton is undecided on her major.  East Georgia State Bobcats softball team is a member of the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association.
