Athens Academy Sweeps Indians

The Stephens County Indians and Lady Indians lost a doubleheader Friday
afternoon at the Currahee Arena.

The Lady Spartans of Athens Academy featured Millie Pugmire as their top scorer
as the Lady Spartans beat the Lady Indians 64-34. Pugmire poured in 22 points to
lead her club. Kendall Lawson chipped in with 9 points.

Aleria Faulkner and Ivey Jackson shared scoring honors for the Lady Indians, both
ending the afternoon with 7 points each.

With the loss, the Lady Indians are now 2-12 on the season while Athens Academy
goes to 10-3.

In the boy’s game, two Athens Academy Spartans scored in double figures to help
the Academy to a 58-37 win. Jordan Marnell had 14 points, and Baynes Collins had
13 in the victory. C. J. Harbin led the Indians with 11 points and Colsen Ivey had
nine points.

The Indians now have a 1-12 record.

8-AA Region play begins on Tuesday when the Franklin County Lions come to
Currahee Arena. Game time Tuesday evening will be 6 P.M. with broadcast time on
WNEG at 5:45 P.M.
