Arson Ruled as Cause of Weekend House Fire, Reward Offered

Authorities say this house fire on Locust St. Sunday was arson

Authorities are asking for the public’s help to find and arrest the person responsible for setting a house on fire over the weekend.

It happened about 5:24p Sunday night at a home on Locust Street in Toccoa.  An investigator with the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner’s office determined the fire was arson.

Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set outside of the house and then burned into the attic area.  The blaze then spread to the rest of the home.

One person was in the home at the time the fire broke out but was able to escape without injury. They have not been identified.

Safety Fire Commissioner Jim Beck is asking anyone with knowledge about this fire to call the Arson Hotline at 1‐800‐282‐5804.

Rewards are offered of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the arsonist(s).

Calls are taken 24 hours a day and callers can choose to remain anonymous.
