ARDEO bust 3 Habersham County men for meth

Three Habersham County men were arrested last week following a 6-months long investigation.

According to Mitchell Posey with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, the arrest occurred on March 7, when the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, the Demorest Police Department and ARDEO concluded an undercover narcotics investigation after executing a search warrant at 617 Golf Course Road, in Demorest.

Authorities were able to seize 8-ounces of methamphetamine from Jasper Jerry Carlan, along with $1,300.

Carlan told officers he had been selling methamphetamine for 20 years and had never been caught before.

Robin Early May was also arrested after it was determined that he had helped Carlan distribute methamphetamine to customers.

Keith Lamar Pitts was a customer of Carlan’s who had brought a gram of methamphetamine to Carlan’s house as authorities were conducting a search.

The street value of the illegal narcotics seized during the investigation was $24,000.

Carlan, 78, of Demorest was arrested and charged with trafficking meth, sale of meth, and possession of meth with the intent to distribute.

May, 55, of Cornelia, was arrested and charged with trafficking meth, and sale of meth.

Pitts, 52, of Mt. Airy was arrested for possession of meth.

All 3 were transported to the Habersham County Detention Center.
