Annual Pre-Legislative Coffee event is this morning in Stephens County

The annual Pre-Legislative Coffee event will be held this morning, in Stephens County.

Today State House Representative for District 28 Chris Erwin and 50th District State Senator John Wilkinson will meet with local business leaders and community members to discuss the issues facing the Georgia General Assembly when the session opens January 13, 2020.

The Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the annual pre-legislative coffee event beginning at 8 a.m. at the Currahee Club.

The event is sponsored by AT&T and will be moderated by the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee.

Some items expected to be discussed when the Georgia General Assembly opens, include legislation on casinos, hate crimes, tax breaks for airlines, private school vouchers, taxes for Uber and Lyft riders, rural transit and oversight of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

According to Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce President Julie Paysen, Erwin and Wilkinson will both provide updates on the top issues and share their insights to challenges and concerns.

They will also take questions from the audience.

Paysen adds that all community leaders, business owners, Chamber members and citizens are invited to attend.
