Angel Tree Registration is today

The Christmas season is fast approaching and all across Stephens County, children are gearing up to send letters to Santa in hopes of cashing in their good behavior for toys.

Yet, for some children, Santa Claus won’t stop at their house. Not because they were particularly bad, but because there is no money to fulfill their Christmas list.

To remedy this, the Salvation Army Toccoa, has announced the continuation of its annual Angel Tree Program.

Brenda Gragg is a social worker with the Salvation Army Toccoa.

She says that the Angel Tree Program is an opportunity for the community to come together and ensure that Santa doesn’t skip any house this Christmas.

“There are families that can’t afford to buy presents for their children. The Angel Tree Program allows the community to come together and make sure that there are Christmas presents for all the kids,” Gragg said.

Gragg adds that anyone wishing to register a child can do so today, October 16, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Salvation Army Toccoa, located at 306 E. Franklin Street.

Children 15-years-old and under can be registered to receive gifts through the Angel Tree Program.

The following documents are required to register: Valid Photo ID; proof of address with name of parent/guardian; proof of financial need, such as current food stamp award letter (EBT cards will not be accepted).

Additional documents required are: social security card or W-7 for all in the household and birth certificates for each child registered, official custody or guardianship papers, and clothing and shoes sizes for all children.

Gragg says that from years past, the community has been supportive of the Angel Tree program.

Registration will also be held on October 23 and October 25 from 12 to 6 p.m. at the Salvation Army Toccoa.
