Amtrak fully restores Crescent Service

Amtrak has fully restored its rail service on all lines after a deal was reached last week to avoid a strike by freight rail line workers.

That includes the Crescent Rail Service through Toccoa and Clemson.

Amtrak had canceled all long-distance trains in all corners of the country as well as some state-sponsored routes as a potential freight railroad strike loomed.

But now, with a tentative deal reached, the railroad was able to get its schedule back in order.

While Amtrak employees were not involved in the strike Norfolk Southern employees were which affected Amtrak as the Crescent uses Norfolk Southern’s Charlotte to Atlanta track.

In a press release, Amtrak officials said some customers at intermediate stations may still be impacted.

Customers should check train status on Amtrak.com or the Amtrak app for more information about their trip.
