Advanced In Person Voting Begins Today, Oct. 15

Advance In-Person voting for the November 5 General Election begins today, October 15 and will end on Friday, November 1. Early voting did not take place yesterday, October 14, due to the Columbus Day federal holiday. 

Early Voting will take place each weekday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday voting will take place on October 19 and October 26 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Election day voting will be Tuesday, November 5, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. All voting will take place at the Stephens County Historic Courthouse, 37 W. Tugalo Street in Toccoa.

When you arrive at your early voting location, you’ll need to have a valid photo ID like a driver’s license, passport, or voter identification card with you

If you need assistance voting, you can bring a family member or friend to help you fill in the ballot.

For those that do not wish to vote in person, the last day to request an absentee by mail ballot is Oct. 25. In Georgia, any registered voter can request to get a ballot

 

In the race for the White House are Republican nominee Donald Trump, with Vice President pick Ohio Sen. JD Vance,  Democrat nominee Vice President Kamala Harris and Vice President pick Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. Also on the ballot in Georgia for the Presidential race are Libertarian candidate Chase Oliver with vice president pick Mike ter Maat, Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Vice President pick Rudolph Ware, Independent Party candidate Claudia De la Cruz and Vice President pick Karina Garcia, and Independent candidate Cornel West and Vice President pick Melina Abdullah. 

 

Also on Stephens County ballots will be the contest between Republican incumbent Andrew Clyde and Democrat challenger Tambrei Cash for the District 9 seat in the U. S. House of Representatives; the contest between Republican incumbent Bo Hatchett and Democrat challenger June Krise for the District 50 seat in the Georgia State Senate; and the contest between Republican candidate Craig Oglesby and Democrat candidate Justin Richie for the Post 3 seat on the Stephens County Board of Commissioners. 

Also on the ballot for the General election, but running unopposed, are Republican incumbent Chris Erwin for the District 32 seat in the Georgia State House of Representatives; Republican incumbent George Christian for District Attorney of the Mountain Judicial Circuit; Republican incumbent Tim Quick for Stephens COunty Clerk of Superior Court; Republican Candidate Rusty Fulbright for Stephens County Sheriff; Republican incumbent Dene Hicks for Stephens County Tax Commissioner; Republican candidate Kyle Johnson for Stephens County Coroner; Republican Incumbent Ann PIckett for Stephens County Solicitor of State Court; Republican Incumbent Debbie Whitlock for the Post 2 seat on the Stephens County Board of Commissioners; Republican Incumbent Len Stovall for the At Large seat on the Stephens County Board of Education;  Republican incumbent Wendy Dawkins for the District 1 seat on the Stephens County Board of Education; and Republican candidate Pam Hill for the District 3 seat on the Stephens County Board of Education.

Also on the ballot:

House Resolution #1022, would cap property value assessments for homeowners with a homestead exemption;

House Resolution #598 would give the Georgia Tax Court the same powers as the superior court. That would allow Georgians to appeal their case directly to the appeals court rather than first appealing to superior court;

House Bill #808 would increase the property tax exemption from $7,500 to $20,000.
