Accident on Hwy 106 closes one lane

An accident involving a Gasoline Tanker and an SUV Monday morning is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.

According to officials with the GSP, the accident occurred around 7:15 a.m. on Hwy 106 and the by-pass, when a 2001 Chevy Suburban rear ended a 2016 KenWorth Fuel Tanker.

The report states that the Suburban came to an uncontrolled rest at the area of impact; whereas, the Fuel Tanker came to a controlled rest just south of the area of impact.

The driver of the Suburban told Troopers that he was blinded by the sun and was unable to see the truck.

Following the arrival of officers one lane was closed to traffic until the wreckage was removed from the scene.

The names of those involved have yet to be released.

At this time, WNEG News has received no word regarding injuries sustained in the crash.
