Back to School Prayer Motorcade Scheduled Saturday, July 27

The start of the 2024-25 school year is now less than a month away, and the date for the 2024 Back to School Prayer Motorcade has been announced.

The first day of the 2024-25 school year will take place on Friday, August 2nd, with New Teacher Orientation on July 25 and 26, and preplanning for teachers and staff taking place on July 29 and August 1.

Bradley Collins, Assistant Director of Transportation at Stephens County Schools, has announced that this year’s Back to School motorcade will take place on Saturday, July 27.

The event was initiated nearly 20 years ago by a previous middle school principal and has continued throughout the years as a community event, with Collins assisting with event organization for the past six or so years.

During a previous motorcade event, Collins told WNEG News, “The parents are welcome to come and join us, the students are welcome and encouraged to come and pray. We do encourage the community to come out, be a part of what’s going on. We think it’s very vital to cover our schools in prayer before they start and even during the school year continue to. But this is a way to get our community together to come out and rally around our students and our teachers and staff. We’d love to have them all.”

Collins contacted WNEG News this weekend to announce the July 27 date for this year’s motorcade, saying “We do this each year on the last Saturday before school starts. We start at the Board of Education and go to all schools. I try to have someone set to lead a prayer at each school, then it is open to everyone who wants to pray. We do our best to keep the times, so if someone just wants to meet at a certain school, they can. We are led to each school by our wonderful law enforcement. Everyone is welcome.”

According to the Motorcade schedule, the motorcade will meet at the Stephens County Board of Education and administration office at 191 Big A School Road from 8 – 8:15 a.m.
