Notification of Sewer Spill on Hill Place: No Citizen Action Required

WNEG News received notice this morning at 11:30 a.m. that a sanitary sewer spill near 45 Hill Place.

Following is the official notice provided by City of Toccoa Utilities Director Harry Scott:

This notice is being provided pursuant to Chapter 391-3-6-.05 concerning the reporting of a sanitary sewer spill.

A sanitary sewer spill occurred Wednesday, June 5, 2024 in the sewer right of way located at 45 Hill Place.

City of Toccoa crew members discovered the overflow condition at 5:30 PM which was caused by line blockage. The sanitary sewer overflow condition ceased around 8:00 PM.

The total volume released was estimated at approximately 2,000 gallons. All required signage has been posted near the site. City crew members will continue to monitor the spill location for line blockages.

WNEG News contacted City of Toccoa Utilities Department officials to confirm that no drinking water intake point is located within miles of the spill, and no action is required by customers.

All appropriate notices have been posted. If required, the testing will be started as soon as possible, and WNEG News will be notified of any updates to pass on to the public.
