North Georgia Credit Union Holds Groundbreaking on Big A Road Property

Last week, North Georgia Credit Union held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new corporate office and branch at 695 Big A Road in Toccoa.

The ceremony, held the afternoon of January 18, was attended by officials from NGCU, J. Davis Construction, and LS3P Architects.

The first floor of the new 11,000 square foot, two-story building will feature a full-service branch with an atrium lobby, three-lane drive-thru with ATM, and night depository. The second floor will hold executive and corporate staff offices and a conference room.

NGCU President and CEO Brian Akin emphasized the strategic importance of the new facility, stating, “This groundbreaking is a significant step towards charting the course for continued growth and success as we plan for NGCU’s future.”

According to an NGCU press release, the credit union has offices in Toccoa, Lavonia, Hartwell and Clayton and now serves nearly 12,000 members, including employees, retirees and family members of more than 100 area companies, plus the residents of Stephens, Franklin, Hart and Rabun counties. As of December 31, 2023, NGCU surpassed the $100 million threshold in total assets for the first time.

Davis Construction based in Westminster, South Carolina, and LS3P Architects were chosen to complete the project. The construction project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
