TCC to consider amendments to City Construction Code

The Toccoa City Commission will consider making amendments to the Construction Code to comply with State Rules during its regular scheduled meeting set for later today.

According to City Manager Billy Morse, the City must make several amendments to the Construction Code in order to remain in compliance with the rules and regulations of the State of Georgia.

The amendments will include changes to Chapter 5, Article II, Building Codes and Chapter 23, Article III, Section 23-61, Water Conservation.

Some of the amendments include replacing the Standard Building Code with the International Building Code.

The City will also consider replacing the Standard Gas Code with the International Fuel and Gas Code to mirror the State of Georgia.

One amendment to the Code includes eliminating the Standard Housing Code and the Standard Grading Code.

The changes will also include amendments to Section 23-61, Water Conservation. Those additions include prescribed water conservation for Urinals, sink faucets, water closets, and kitchen faucets.

In other business, the Commission will consider changing the Second City Commission Meeting in December to December 16.

The Toccoa City Commission meeting will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. this afternoon inside the City Commission and Court Room of City Hall.
