Wet n’ Wild comes to Lake Hartwell, next weekend

The Pro Watercross Tour is headed to Lake Hartwell for the sixth time as the Wet n’ Wild Event kicks off next weekend.

Hart County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Christine Blomberg gives a few details.

We have Wet n’ Wild coming up Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 11 and 12 at Long Point Recreation Area and will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. People can come and admission is $5 per person, which gets you in both days. If you bring your kids, kids 6 and under get in free,” said Blomberg.

The Pro Watercross Tour is the featured national circuit for personal watercraft racing. The Tour brings together the best professional and amateur athletes in the sport, on the most beautiful beaches and venues in the U.S.A., and offering the most challenging and technical race courses in the world. Pro Watercross creates the biggest, best Watercross racing show in the world.

Blomberg said the Lake Hartwell event will wrap up the regular season.

They usually have around 50 jet ski competitors. They do it, it’s a national tour so they go all over the United States doing the different rounds all summer. I think this is the last stop before the finals,” said Blomberg.

The Blue Dog Chemical ProWatercross National Tour brings the best watercross racers from coast to coast and competitors from all over the world, including the United Kingdom, Kuwait, and Indonesia. The National Tour is expected to draw one of the largest gatherings of competitors in the country as participants compete in pursuit of the final points needed on the way to the National Tour Finals in Charleston, West Virginia.

At noon each day, watch the gravity defining, high flying Free Style Jet Ski Stunt Show. You can meet the racers and stunt riders, get autographs and check out their boats.

Blomberg said there will be plenty of activities for the kids and a few for the adults, making this event a very family-friendly event.

We’re going to have an inflatable waterslide and we’ll have our cornhole out there and some other things for the kids to play with. We also have stand-up paddle board demos for attendees to try out. There’s a swimming area if the kids want to swim in the lake, there’s a certain area they can do that as well. It’s a lot of fun for the whole family. We’ll have food out there. It’s just a really great day,” said Blomberg.
