By Ken Brady
The Stephens County Indians will make a long road trip again tonight as they play in the second round of the State AA Football Playoffs. The Indians will travel to Columbus to play the Carver Tigers. Note that kickoff will be earlier than normal at 7 p.m. Carver is the number 3-seeded team in the playoffs after finishing as the top team in Region 1-AA. They are also the defending Class AA Champs. Carver defeated Redan at home in the first round, 56-0, to improve their record to a perfect 11-0. Stephens County is the number 19-seeded team and comes into the game with an overall record of 6-5. Last Friday night, the Indians defeated Crisp County on the road in the first round, 24-21. This is the first meeting between the two teams.
Last night on the Crunch Time radio show, Stephens County Defensive End Coach Chase Coleman said it will be a big challenge facing Carver, but the team has had a good week of practice.
