3-Vote Margin too Close to Call House District 28 Winner

Think that your vote is not important?

In the District 28 Re-Run election it is a three vote difference!

The race involving Stephens, Banks, and part of Habersham County had this unofficial result.

(R) Challenger Chris Erwin 3,516

(R) Incumbent Dan Gasaway 3,513

Again, these results are unofficial and do not include some provisional ballots yet to be tallied.

The Republican challenger Chris Erwin, who originally won in the May Primary by just 67 votes, came up short in Stephens County receiving 1086 votes or 40.48% to Incumbent Candidate Dan Gasaway’s 1,597 votes or 59.52%.

Across the state of Georgia, Tuesday, voters lined up at the polls to cast ballots in the state run-off races for Secretary of State and Public Service Commissioner; however, some residents from Stephens, Banks and part of Habersham counties waited in two lines Election Day to cast ballots in both the statewide run-off election and the District 28 re-run election.

In the statewide November General run-off election, the two Republicans unofficially earned victories.

In the Secretary of State run-off Republican Brad Raffensperger defeated Democrat John Barrow, and in the run-off for Public Service Commissioner Republican Chuck Eaton defeated Democrat Lindy Miller.

Stephens County selected Raffensperger for the Secretary of State race, and Eaton for Public Service Commissioner. Both received over 83% of the vote in Stephens County.

WNEG News will continue to provide coverage as the completed results are released.
