Wrestling Splits Dual Meets Tuesday

Stephens County wrestlers split a road tri-match with Banks County and Seneca, South Carolina.

The Indians first defeated Seneca, 67-12.

Winning by pin for the Indians were Javon Jones; Jake Murray; Cooper Long; who was filling in for the injured Jay Stowe; Dalton Roberts; Blake Peeples; Jose Cannon; Devin Burns; Logan Loudermilk; Gavin Walker; and Gary Walker. Winning by major decision was Devin DeShazer and winning by decision was Corey Kindel.

Stephens County then came out on the short end against defending state champion Banks County, 51-24.

Winning by pin for the Indians were Blake Peeples, Devin Burns, and Gary Walker. Winning by decision were Gavin Walker and Jake Murray, who won in a sudden death overtime match.

The Stephens County wrestling team is back in action at home on Friday against Franklin County and Hart County in a tri-match.

It will be Senior Night for wrestling at Stephens County High School and everything gets started at 5:30 p.m.
