Work Underway on Crescent Line Route Between Atlanta, New Orleans

Passengers riding the Amtrak Crescent line between Atlanta and New Orleans on several days over the next two months will receive bus service to help complete their trip due to track work affecting the line.

Amtrak said the work being performed by Norfolk Southern Railway is affecting both the Southbound Train 19 and Northbound Train 20.

Service southbound is affected every Sunday through Wednesday from this week through February 22.

Meanwhile, northbound service is affected every Monday through Thursday from now through February 23.

According to Amtrak, only service between New Orleans and Atlanta is affected.

Those headed southbound will stop in Atlanta on the train and be provided bus service from Atlanta to New Orleans.

Meanwhile, those headed northbound will ride a bus from New Orleans to Atlanta, then board the northbound train.

The southbound train will operate normally and serve all stations on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, while the northbound train will operate normally and serve all stations on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Service at the Toccoa station will not be affected by the work.

Amtrak’s Crescent line stops twice daily in Toccoa, once headed southbound in the morning and once headed northbound at night.
