Work continues to get the Doyle Street Pool in Toccoa open for the summer.
According to Toccoa-Stephens County YMCA CEO Robin Dake, they are still working to balance the chemicals in the pool.
For that reason, as well as the weather forecast, Dake said the YMCA does not believe the pool will open today as was hoped last week.
Dake said that the YMCA will announce it if that changes.
Officials from the Y and the city of Toccoa both said the goal was to have the pool open this week following repairs made last week to resolve leaks and a problem with the pool’s pump.
Earlier this summer, the YMCA had indicated it would not be able to open the pool because of those problems.
However, officials said that Patterson Pump stepped in to repair the pump, while the city made repairs to deal with the leak issues.
Those repairs made it possible to get the pool on track to open as soon as the chemicals are balanced and the weather clears.
