Wilkinson Center Addition Nearing Completion

An addition at the Wilkinson Center at Stephens County Hospital should be open and in use around the end of next month.

Hospital Administrator Lynne Anderson said that crews are wrapping up work on the project.

“We are working on the inside finishes now and we have some grading to do on the land around them and some landscaping to do in order to finish up this project,” said Anderson.

Anderson said that the hospital is also finishing up the necessary paperwork to have the addition open and ready to go.

“We are currently licensed for 92 beds and we are going to increase that by 12, so we are asking to go to 104 and we file paperwork with the Department of Community Health and we have to wait for them to respond and then we will present their response to the state to allow them to approve those additional 12 beds,” said Anderson.

Construction on the six new units at the Wilkinson Center began back in January.

Anderson said that the hospital has already received deposits from people for all six units to move in when they are ready.

Each of the six new units will house two people comfortably and will include a small kitchen, a living room area, a study that could also function as a separate bedroom, a walk-in closet, and a patio.

The units will be about 1000 square feet each and will connect to the main Wilkinson Center through a heated hallway.
