Wild Weather Wednesday Over

A drier day is expected today after a wild Wednesday on the weather front.

It started during the morning hours with rapidly rising temperatures followed by a tornado warning in northwestern Stephens County just after 8 a.m.

The warning lasted for less than 30 minutes and there were no reported tornado touchdowns in the area, according to information from the National Weather Service.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley reported that there were some scattered trees down and some more of those were reported throughout the day as temperatures dropped and rain continued with winds picking up.

In all, downtown Toccoa received more than 3 inches of rain this week.
