Weekend Storms Move Through Toccoa, Stephens Co.

Weekend storms bring rain and some power outages to Stephens County.

Storms moved through the area Sunday morning and early Sunday afternoon.

At one point, some of those storms around noon on Sunday knocked out power to part of Toccoa for a time, including some parts of Big A Road.

In all, the storms dumped 1.26 inches of rain Sunday morning into this morning in downtown Toccoa.

The weekend rain should help the dry conditions in the area.

Stephens County was listed as “abnormally dry” in last week’s U.S. Drought Monitor report.

As of last week, nearly 53 percent of the state was listed as being in some type of abnormally dry or drought conditions.

For the year to date, downtown Toccoa has received around 36 inches of precipitation.

That is down from last year, when as of this date, downtown Toccoa had gotten more than 69 inches of precipitation.
