Wednesday Afternoon Accident in Stephens Injures One

An accident Wednesday afternoon sends one person to the hospital.

The wreck occurred just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Highway 123, or West Currahee Street, in the area of Carnes Creek Road.

According to the Toccoa post of the Georgia State Patrol, it involved a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder and a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle.

The GSP said the driver of the motorcycle, identified as 29-year-old Joe Colon of Toccoa, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with what the GSP termed as “upper extremity injuries.”

Initial information from the GSP Wednesday afternoon did not report any injuries for the driver of the Pathfinder, identified as 18-year-old Danielle Lenz of Toccoa.

The Georgia State Patrol was still investigating the accident Wednesday afternoon and no other details were available.

The accident did shut down that part of West Currahee Street for a time Wednesday afternoon, but the road re-opened later during the afternoon hours.
