The deadline to register to vote in the November election is here.
“If (people) have not registered to vote for the November election, then they need to come by the office and get registered because today at 5 p.m. is the last time that they can register to vote for the November election,” said Stephens County Registrar Theresa Kelley. “If they have to do a name change or an address change or change any part of their record, they need to do that today so we can get it updated and corrected on our voter rolls.”
For more information, stop by the Registrar’s Office, which is located on the ground floor of the Stephens County Government Building in downtown Toccoa or call 706-886-8954. More information can also be found online at the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office website at www.sos.ga.gov.
Besides the presidential election, voters in Stephens County will cast ballots in two area races of note. One of those is the 9th Congressional District race between Doug Collins and Jody Cooley. The other is the race for District 3, Post 2 on the Stephens County Board of Education between Curtis Waters and Jim Ledford.
Early voting for the November election will begin on October 15 at the Stephens County Government Building in downtown Toccoa. However, those who wish to request a mail-in absentee ballot can do so now by contacting the Stephens County Registrar’s Office.
